We are recruiting a Community Support Worker at Caerphilly County Borough Council.

Working hours: 19 Hours
Contract Type: Permanent, Part Time
Location: Community based

The role of a Community Support Worker is to provide support to Individuals with learning difficulties and to source voluntary and paid work opportunities of their choice.

As a result, all Community Support Workers will need to work flexibly with us to ensure the level of support required is available. This will mean that the ability to work over a 7 day period is an essential requirement of the role. This could include weekend and evening working. Access to a car is also a requirement of this role. You will be required to lone work 1 to 1 in the community and to work in a group setting at our Catering Project and Coffee Shop.

For the role, we ask that you have:

  • A Level 2 or 3 qualification in Care on the Credit and Qualifications Framework or the commitment and ability to attain the qualification within 1 year of appointment (subject to availability of training).
  • An understanding of disability issues such as empowerment, choice and advocacy.
  • Work in accordance with the Social Care Wales “Code of Professional Practice and Guidance for Social Care” in respect of Workers and Employers.
  • A Full UK Category B (Cars) driving licence to drive a leased Council vehicle to transport individuals regularly throughout the day. In order to undertake the post it is compulsory for the post holder to pass a driving assessment as determined by the insurance liabilities of the lease hire vehicle.
