    Both nationally and locally, the crime landscape is changing. Increasingly crimes are complex, hidden, and linked, creating new demands on agencies and services and requiring innovative responses. This is an opportunity to support multiple community safeguarding activities focused on protecting high risk, vulnerable people from harm. You will also be involved in wider activities across the Service, working with lots of different people and helping to make West Sussex a safer, stronger, more resilient place.

    About the job

    You will work on activities to deliver the community safeguarding agenda, supporting campaigns and event planning, internal and external communications (including social media), training and presentation resource preparation, research tasks, data and file management and supporting meetings. You will develop an understanding of how protecting high risk groups of people from harm impacts on wider Service activities and will make links and share practice across the Service. You will be expected to work both under supervision and on your own initiative as required. Primarily you will be office based but you may be required at times to travel around the county to support meetings and events.

    Salary: £ 27,254 to £ 28,598per annum
    Working Pattern: Full time - 37 hours per week
    Location: Based atCounty Hall, Chichester with hybrid working options
    Contract type: Permanent

    On occasion you will need to be able to travel independently around the county, including to areas that may not be easily accessible by public transport. Pool cars and pool bikes are available.

    What you'll need to succeed

    You will be an experienced multi-tasker, able to progress several activities at once, moving swiftly between priorities, and responding positively to tight deadlines. You will have an eye for detail and first class organisational and IT skills. You will be a people person, building trust and rapport easily with colleagues and have the ability to make links across agendas. A can-do attitude is vital in this role as you will be asked to get involved in a wide variety of tasks, and you must pro-actively progress work at pace and to a high standard. You will be creative and innovative, working with colleagues to drive practice improvement, generate new ideas and challenge existing practices.

    • Confident in your ability to plan solutions and making sound pragmatic decisions which will have a direct impact on the service.
    • Good communication and interpersonal skills to interact effectively and provide clear advice and guidance to a range of clients with a significant degree of confidence, tact and discretion.
    • Create and maintain effective working relationships, influencing behaviour and conduct of colleagues to ensure highest level of service.
    • Ability to embrace change and have the flexibility to respond to the needs of the service.
    • Sound literacy and numeracy skills to analyse and interpret complex documents and produce written material including the preparation of data.
