Commissioning Officer

Making a difference by shaping services that improve outcomes for Plymouth residents.

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join Plymouth City Council's Strategic Commissioning Team as a Commissioning Officer.

We are looking for an enthusiastic, motivated and forward-thinking individual who is passionate about improving outcomes for adults with care and support needs. This role offers the opportunity to influence the development and delivery of services across Plymouth, working collaboratively with partners, providers, people who use services and colleagues across health and social care.

As a Commissioning Officer, you will support and lead a range of commissioning activities including needs analysis, market development, service redesign, contract management, quality assurance, procurement projects and performance monitoring. You will contribute to good governance across commissioned services, helping to ensure effective quality oversight, provider accountability and positive outcomes for
people who use our services.

The successful candidate will have experience in commissioning, contract
management, project management, service improvement, health, social care, housing or a related field. You will be able to analyse and interpret information, build strong relationships with stakeholders, and manage competing priorities within a dynamic environment.

Experience of, or a good working knowledge of, learning disabilities, autism, supported living, mental health and complex care services would be highly advantageous. This will support your ability to work effectively with providers, stakeholders and people who use services to shape and improve commissioned services across Plymouth.

This is an excellent opportunity to develop your commissioning career within a supportive and ambitious team whilst making a tangible difference to the lives of people across Plymouth.

If you enjoy working collaboratively, using evidence to inform decision-making, and helping shape services that deliver better outcomes, we would love to hear from you.

We are a flexible employer and provide a variety of working arrangements tailored to the needs of each role.

The Disclosure & Barring Service Check requirement for this post is: Enhanced Adult’s Barred List.

Where a high number of eligible applicants meet the essential criteria, we may undertake a further shortlisting exercise to identify those who best demonstrate the essential criteria for the role.
