Job Description

Overview

The London Borough of Harrow is seeking an organised and motivated Commissioning Officer to join the Adults and Public Health Commissioning team. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the design, development and delivery of services that support vulnerable children, young people and adults across the borough. Working within the Strategy and Commissioning division, you will play an important role in helping ensure that services are effective, high quality, value for money and responsive to the needs of local residents.

Reporting to a Strategic Commissioner, you will support commissioning activity across a range of service areas including Mental Health, Learning Disabilities and Autism, Older People, Physical Disabilities, Children and Young People, and Public Health. You will assist throughout the commissioning cycle, including needs assessments, service design, co-production, procurement, mobilisation, contract monitoring and provider engagement. The role will involve working closely with a variety of stakeholders including service managers, finance, procurement, legal services, health partners, voluntary sector organisations and service providers to help deliver commissioning priorities and improve outcomes for residents.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys project work, relationship management and analysing information to support decision-making. You will have the opportunity to work on a wide range of innovative projects while developing your knowledge of commissioning, contract management and service improvement. We are looking for a proactive individual with strong organisational and communication skills who is committed to delivering positive outcomes through partnership working. About You

The successful candidate will have:

  • Experience of supporting projects, programmes or service improvement initiatives.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and Teams.
  • Experience of gathering, analysing and presenting information and data.
  • The ability to produce clear reports, presentations, briefings and other business documents.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Good interpersonal skills with the ability to build effective working relationships with a wide range of stakeholders.
  • Experience of working collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team environment.
  • The ability to manage confidential and sensitive information appropriately.
  • Strong planning and time management skills, including coordinating meetings and producing accurate minutes.
  • Experience of supporting meetings, events, consultations or stakeholder engagement activities.
