Location: Various sites across the London Borough of Croydon
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and supervise cleansing and grounds maintenance operatives across allocated sites, ensuring high standards of cleanliness, safety, and presentation.
- Oversee daily operations including litter collection, bin emptying, sweeping, grass cutting, hedge trimming, planting, and seasonal maintenance.
- Allocate work, monitor performance, and provide on-site guidance and support to team members.
- Ensure the safe use, maintenance, and reporting of tools, vehicles, and equipment, addressing defects promptly.
- Conduct quality assurance checks, identifying issues and implementing solutions to maintain service excellence.
- Support and coordinate seasonal duties, including leaf-clearance programmes and winter gritting operations.
- Build constructive working relationships with colleagues, residents, contractors, and partner services to enhance the borough’s outdoor environment.
- Maintain accurate records of work completed, health and safety compliance, and staff attendance.
About You
- Experience in grounds maintenance, cleansing, or horticulture, with previous supervisory or team-leading responsibility.
- Confident working outdoors in all weather conditions.
- Strong organisational and communication skills with the ability to motivate and support a diverse workforce.
- Reliable, proactive, and committed to delivering excellent customer service.
- Able to work independently, use initiative, and prioritise effectively in a fast-paced operational environment.
- A positive attitude and a commitment to maintaining high standards for Croydon’s green and public spaces.
