    Purpose of the Role

    We are seeking a reliable and diligent Cleaner to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining high standards of cleanliness and hygiene throughout the school, ensuring a safe and welcoming environment for students, staff, and visitors.

    Please note that this role is 20 hours per week.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Daily cleaning of classrooms, specialist teaching rooms, staff rooms, offices, and all internal circulation spaces according to work schedules and set standards.
    • Maintain all bathroom, toilet, and shower areas in a hygienic condition.
    • Participate in deep cleaning of the school, especially for special events.
    • Use a range of cleaning equipment and materials, including vacuum cleaners, floor polishers, and appropriate cleaning agents.
    • Collect waste from bins, including recycling bins.
    • Adhere to good health and hygiene practices.
    • Safely store all cleaning materials at the end of each shift.
    • Carry out any other reasonable duties as required.

    Health & Safety

    • Follow all school health and safety procedures and policies.
    • Ensure appropriate signage is in place when cleaning is in progress.
    • Make safe any hazards where possible and cordon off areas as needed.
    • Maintain clear passageways, especially on fire escape routes, during cleaning operations.
    • Ensure all equipment and materials are stored securely to prevent accidents or misuse.
    • Keep cleaning cupboards tidy and equipment in safe condition at all times.

    About You

    • Awareness of health and safety, safe use of cleaning materials, and environmental health issues is essential.
    • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
    • Reliable, punctual, and trustworthy.
    • Previous cleaning experience is desirable but not essential.

    Opened in 2018, Arc Oakbridge School is an independent special day school in the Jewellery Quarter, Birmingham with a specially designed learning environment created to meet the needs of autistic children. We provide a calm, low arousal, safe, positive and nurturing place where young people can learn and grow.

    Arc Oakbridge School is part of Kedleston Group. We specialise in providing specialist education and care for children aged 7-19 with a range of special educational needs and disabilities (SEND).
