Salary: Grade A – £24,796 - £25,185 per year pro rata working (£12.85 - £13.05 per hour)

£4,691 – £4,764 per year for part time working (pay award pending)

Hours: 7 hours per week

This job is to help keep Erewash Museum clean, safe and welcoming for visitors, staff and volunteers. You will clean public and staff areas such as galleries, offices, toilets, meeting rooms and the café, and make sure cleaning materials and equipment are used safely. You may also help at other council sites when needed, report any problems with equipment or the building, and let the team know when cleaning supplies are running low.

The 7 hours will be worked over Monday to Saturday, outside public opening hours, to ensure the site is always clean and safe for visitors. The working pattern will be agreed with the successful candidate.

Key Responsibilities

This is a varied role, and the main responsibilities include:

  • Maintaining the cleanliness of all public and staff areas of the museum, including galleries, cafés, offices, toilets and meeting rooms
  • Ensuring that all cleaning chemicals and specialised cleaning equipment are used safely
  • Assisting other members of the team with the cleaning of other council sites if required
  • Reporting any defects in facilities or equipment
  • Keeping records of low cleaning stock levels so that replacements can be ordered

Qualifications and Experience

It is essential that you:

  • Can follow written and verbal instructions and communicate with others
  • Are able to work as part of a team and on own initiative
  • Have a positive attitude to the provision of high-quality services
  • Are able to carry out the physical duties of the role, including moving cleaning equipment and cleaning for extended periods.
  • Have a willingness to attend and benefit from training relevant to this post.

Ideally you will have experience in cleaning in a commercial or industrial cleaning environment.
