Year 2 Class Teacher – Maternity Cover
Fixed term for two terms, with the possibility of an extension

Start date: 4 January 2027

We are looking for an enthusiastic and caring teacher to join our team and teach one of our Year 2 classes during a period of maternity leave.

We want someone who has high expectations, builds positive relationships and is committed to helping every child succeed. A good understanding of the Key Stage 1 curriculum, including early reading, phonics and writing, is essential.

We are looking for a teacher who:

  • Plans and teaches engaging lessons that meet pupils’ different needs.
  • Creates a calm, positive classroom where children feel supported and ready to learn.
  • Uses assessment carefully to identify gaps and move learning forward.
  • Works well with colleagues, support staff and parents.
  • Contributes to the wider life of the school.

We can offer:

  • A welcoming school with a strong sense of community.
  • Supportive colleagues and opportunities to develop your teaching.
  • A parallel Year 2 teacher to work alongside.
  • A school committed to inclusion and high expectations for all pupils.

Early Career Teachers are welcome to apply. Please note that we are unable to offer statutory ECT induction as part of this post, so the appointment would not count towards your two-year induction period. However, it would provide valuable classroom experience and support to help prepare you for a future ECT induction post.

The appointment is initially for two terms and may be extended, depending on the duration of the maternity leave.
