About the team

We’re looking for a compassionate and proactive Children’s Practitioner to join our Homelessness Prevention Team, providing specialist support to families with No Recourse to Public Funds (NRPF).

About the role

In this vital role, you’ll work directly with children and families facing complex challenges, ensuring their safety, well-being, and access to essential services. You’ll manage a non-complex caseload, collaborate with multi-agency partners, and advocate for families navigating housing, immigration, and welfare systems.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Delivering high-quality, child-focused support that promotes stability and well-being.
  • Coordinating with internal teams and external agencies to develop effective support plans.
  • Providing clear advice and signposting to help families access services.
  • Communicating with empathy and professionalism, even in difficult situations.
  • Contributing to team learning and development through peer support and reflective practice.
  • Travelling as needed, including outside Hertfordshire, to meet families and attend meetings.

About you

Essential:

  • Experience working with children and families in a support or advocacy role.
  • Strong communication and organisational skills.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • A calm, resilient approach in a fast-paced environment.
  • A full, clean driving licence and access to a vehicle.
  • Able to travel in and out of county, as required.

Desirable:

  • A genuine interest in supporting families with NRPF.
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation (Children Act, Immigration Act, Housing legislation).

Why Join Us?

You’ll be joining a stable team that’s more than just a workplace—it’s a supportive, close-knit group that values collaboration, respect, and shared learning. Team members are passionate about making a difference and are always there for one another, creating a positive and fulfilling environment where your work truly matters.
