We are now recruiting for a Catering Operator to join our team. Based at the Newark Beacon, you will provide a high level of service to internal and external customers within our Café.

The Newark Beacon is a well-established business centre, managing all types of businesses and providing a full suite of management services. You will be working with a professional, committed and experienced team who are passionate about supporting us to deliver the objectives of the Community Plan by generating income. This allows the Council to improve the services it offers residents as well as to provide excellent premises and support for local businesses.

You will hold daily operational responsibility for the smooth running of the Café at the Newark Beacon, alongside the Centre Manager, ensuring that it is appropriately stocked, that staffing requirements are met and that you and the team deliver the best possible customer experience at all times. You will also develop commercial opportunities in the business unit, undertaking cross promotional activities, up-selling and reporting on sales. In addition to daily Café duties, you will assist in the preparation and delivery of conferencing and other events.

You will ensure that a high level of cleanliness is maintained in the café and surrounding areas at all times and comply with all relevant finance procedures and legislation governing licensing laws, hygiene and health and safety.

You should have experience working in a busy food service environment, hold a food hygiene certificate and be able to deliver a high-level service with a focus on customer care. You will be able to work well under pressure and have experience in cash handling and reconciliation as well as stock management.

We’re an ambitious, forward-thinking Council with strong values and a culture of doing our absolute best to serve our customers. We are proud of our organisational culture and receive positive feedback from our employees. We have a programme of internal activity to ensure that the voices of our employees are always heard and that they are kept informed on all Council activity and events. From roadshows to an annual award ceremony, from reviewing working arrangements to our Hug in a Mug initiative, it is incredibly important our employees are shown how valued they are and that they remain the beating heart of our workplace.

We offer:
