
Care Home Contracts Officer
Following an internal promotion, an exciting opportunity has arisen within the Care Home Contracts Team to support the team in all aspects of Contract Management, including evaluation of new providers wishing to become contracted with the Council for the supply of residential and nursing home services.
The Care Home Contract Officer will be part of a hardworking but supportive team and will be expected to work with minimal supervision. Full training and support will be available to the successful candidate.

This position is subject to a criminal records check from the Disclosure and Barring Service, which will require you to disclose details of all unspent and unfiltered spent reprimands, formal warnings, cautions and convictions in your application form.
Location: Based in Stafford but remote working is very much an option with prearranged attendance to Stafford Office.
Main ResponsibilitiesYou will be responsible for creating financial records and resolving a wide range of contractual queries from internal and external sources and therefore excellent analytical, interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal will be required.
You will also:
- Responsible for evaluating applications made through the electronic portal from potential new providers of care home services, including scrutiny of information supplied against regulator, Companies House and financial assessor websites to ensure that both Public Procurement regulations and the Council’s procurement rules are adhered to.
- Production and completion of legally binding high quality residential and nursing contract documentation.
- Responsible for creating accurate financial records which will be used by various teams and systems to create financial information to allow a provider to trade with the Council.
- Responsible for accurately maintaining up to date provider financial data and liaising with the Finance Team to ensure payments are made to the correct provider through the Council’s financial management system.
- Processing formal variations (either by agreement or unilateral) of contracts, including the review of requests received from providers, review of new data from Companies House or financial assessor websites requiring variation, acting on instructions from Commissioners, and exercising due diligence, prioritising, issuing and completion of variation documents.
We are therefore looking to recruit someone with proven skills and experience in working directly with internal and external partners in sometimes challenging circumstances. This post will be part of a hardworking and supportive team and will be expected to work with minimal supervision.
Full training and support will be available; an in-depth working knowledge of Care Director and Excel would be beneficial. As would:
- ability to manage conflicting deadlines
- Ability to understand and interpret information from various sources
- Understanding of contract management

Salary range
- £25,989 - £30,024 per year
