Care Experienced Apprenticeship Programme 2027

We are looking for talented people who want to develop their skills and influence services.

This apprenticeship programme aims to help address barriers experienced by care-experienced applicants, aged 16 years – 24 years. It offers the opportunity to earn a salary, gain a nationally recognised qualification and develop valuable workplace skills in a supportive environment, with additional support available according to individual needs.

We are recruiting across a range of service areas, including libraries, co-production, youth services, participation, and engagement with children and young people. Each role offers meaningful work, dedicated support and the opportunity to make a positive difference within the local community.

Level 3 Apprenticeships available:

• Children's Services Participation Apprentice (2 vacancies)
• Youth Services Apprentice (1 vacancy)
• Adult Social Care Co-production Business Support Apprentice (1 vacancy)
• Southwater Library Apprentice (1 vacancy)

Pay Rate: £11.44 per hour - paid monthly

Full time: 37 hours per week

Duration: 24 months

About the Roles

Southwater Library Apprentice
Support front-line library and First Point customer services, assist with library activities, stock management and administration, while developing knowledge of wider Council services.

Adult Social Care Co-production Business Support Apprentice
Support co-production activities through business administration, communications, event planning, meeting organisation, diary and inbox management, and the development of presentation and project skills.

Youth Services Apprentice
Support the delivery of youth work activities, engage with young people, build trusted relationships, and contribute to youth participation and service delivery.

Children's Services Participation Apprentices
Support children and young people to have their voices heard across Children's Services through participation activities, forums, events and service improvement projects. Apprentices will work directly with young people, contribute to co-production activities, support recruitment processes, develop child-friendly communications, and help gather and act on feedback to improve services.

If you are aged 16 or over, live in England and are not in full-time education, an apprenticeship could help you build your skills, gain practical experience and start your career with the Council.

As an apprentice, you will:

• Work alongside experienced professionals within your service.
• Develop practical skills and knowledge relevant to your role.
• Study towards a nationally recognised Level 3 qualification.
• Receive structured training, support, supervision and regular reviews.
• Contribute to projects, services, events and activities that support residents, children, young people and communities.
• Gain valuable experience while building confidence and employability skills.

The apprenticeship programme will be tailored to your role and learning needs, with dedicated support to help you successfully complete your qualification and progress into future employment opportunities.
