A helpful conversation. A clear response. The right support when it matters.
As a Business Support Officer at Adoption Central England, your everyday work will make a difference to families and the social workers who support them. If you enjoy connecting with people, keeping things organised and working as part of a team, we’d love to hear from you.

About the role

You’ll be a welcoming point of contact for families, answering telephone calls and responding to email enquiries with care and professionalism. You’ll also support a team of social workers and managers providing high-quality business administration support, helping their day-to-day work run smoothly. Adoption can involve sensitive and emotive issues. You’ll need to listen without judgement, communicate with empathy and handle information confidentially, recognising that every family’s circumstances are different.

What you’ll bring
- Clear, friendly communication: you listen carefully, help people feel heard and provide helpful, accurate information by telephone and email.
- Empathy and discretion: you approach sensitive conversations calmly, without judgement, and respect confidentiality.
- Good organisation: you can manage several tasks, prioritise competing demands and pay attention to detail.
- A team-focused approach: you work well with others, share information and contribute to getting things done together.
- You will possess excellent keyboard and IT skills and be highly proficient in Microsoft 365 applications, particularly Word, Excel, and Microsoft Teams.
- Strong literacy, numeracy, and administrative skills are essential, together with the ability to analyse information and a keen eye to explore ways to streamline administrative processes.

There’s more than one route to developing these skills. You may have gained them through paid work, volunteering or other life experience. Whatever your background, if you can bring thoughtful communication, strong organisation and administrative skills and a collaborative approach to this role, we’d love to hear how you could contribute to Adoption Central England.
