We are seeking four highly motivated and professional Business Managers to play a key role in supporting the Senior Leadership Team.

About the Role

As Business Manager, you will provide strategic business, project, and governance support to Senior Leaders across one of our key service themes: Chief Executive, Organisation, Place, or Families.

This is a varied and influential role where you will:

  • Lead and coordinate business support activity for Senior Leaders
  • Prepare and present high-quality reports, briefings, presentations and correspondence.
  • Manage key projects, programmes and business change initiatives.
  • Support leadership meetings, tracking actions and ensuring delivery against agreed objectives.
  • Develop effective performance and reporting systems across services.
  • Provide advice and guidance on governance, management information and continuous improvement.
  • Manage communications, correspondence, complaints and enquiries on behalf of senior leaders.
  • Lead and manage staff, supporting innovation, performance and service excellence. This role also provides delegated authority to make appropriate decisions on behalf of senior leadership and requires the ability to build strong relationships across the organisation and with external partners.

About You

We are looking for someone who can demonstrate:

Essential Requirements

  • Degree-level education or equivalent experience.
  • Relevant professional qualification.
  • Experience of effective leadership within an office management, business support, technical support or project support environment.
  • Proven experience of managing projects and delivering change.
  • Experience of working with senior stakeholders and managing complex, sensitive and confidential information.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent influencing, negotiation and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong digital skills and the ability to utilise technology to improve ways of working.
  • Knowledge of local government services and an understanding of the political environment in which councils operate.

Our working arrangements

All council roles are allocated to either a fixed, field or flexible work style. Some roles are agile which enable and empower employees to maximise their performance and productivity, whilst maintaining a healthy work life balance. Roles with a fixed workstyle work in a fixed permanent council location. Roles with a field workstyle are usually allocated where employees are required to be out working in the community with a minimum requirement for 'touch down' space at any council location. Roles with a flexible workstyle have a flexible base location to meet the needs of the business and employees can work from a mixture of home or any council office, partner/client, or external location, as required to meet service requirements.
