The Role

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate individual to join our team as a Brokerage Advisor, in this role, you will be responsible for liaising with People and their families, alongside Social Care and Health Professionals and Care Providers to coordinate the delivery of high quality care to improve their independence and wellbeing

Key Responsibilities:

  • Act as the main point of contact for people and their families sourcing care
  • Build and maintain relationships with a network of trusted Providers and health and social care Professional
  • Provide information and advice on available care options and funding sources
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation
  • Ensuing all services are meeting their contractual obligations

Valid driving licence and own transport, or be able to provide alternative, suitable method of travel is an essential condition for this role.

This position is currently based at our Town Hall Offices

Work Style

At North Somerset Council, we offer a hybrid working environment based on four distinct work styles. Depending on the role and personal circumstances, you will fall into one of these categories. However, please note that during the induction period, it may be necessary to spend more time in the office to support your learning and development. We are flexible and open to discussions about your preferred working style, and if you wish to be in the office more frequently, this can be negotiated.

This role falls into the category of Fixed Worker which means you can expect to work in the following way:

Fixed Worker – whilst completing the 6 month probationary period:

  • Spends all of their time in the office
  • The office remains a shared space with cultural encouragement for clear desk policies.

After completion of the probationary period the choice is to continue to be a Fixed Worker (as above) or a Flexible Worker:

  • 2-3 days in the office

About You

We are looking for an individual who is passionate about supporting people and who possesses the following skills and experience:

Essential Criteria:

  • Build and maintain professional relationships
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to liaise effectively with various stakeholders.
  • Proven negotiation skills
  • Effective and clear record keeping skills
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills.
  • Demonstrate adaptability in ways of working and problem solving
  • Confidence to work with Providers and challenge when necessary

Desirable Criteria:

  • Proven Practical experience of working with people with various care and support needs
  • Demonstrate a knowledge of care and support providers and what they can offer under their registrations
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation and regulations relevant to Social Care and Commissioning services
