    What is the job role?

    Help keep Coventry’s roads safe, efficient, and moving.

    Join our Highways team and play a key role in improving the safety and performance of the city’s highway network. You’ll support traffic management, accident investigation, road safety schemes and the delivery of essential improvements across Coventry.

    What you’ll be doing:

    • Respond to enquiries from councillors, MPs, residents and partners
    • Help design and implement traffic and road‑safety solutions
    • Support accident data analysis and safety improvement schemes
    • Assist with Traffic Regulation Orders and highway inspections
    • Help manage MVAS speed‑compliance sites
    • Work with colleagues to keep the network safe, efficient and compliant
    • Contribute to community engagement and customer‑focused service delivery

    Who are we looking for?

    We’re looking for someone who can help keep Coventry’s highway network safe, efficient and well‑managed. To thrive in this post, you’ll bring a blend of technical knowledge, practical skills and strong people skills.

    To be successful in this post, you will need:

    • Knowledge of how street works coordination, inspections and reinstatement standards support a safe, efficient highway
    • Temporary traffic management requirements, including signing, lighting and guarding (Safety at Street Works & Road Works Code of Practice)
    • Key highway legislation such as the New Roads and Street Works Act 1991 and the Traffic Management Act 2004
    • Working effectively with colleagues and external organisations
    • Excellent interpersonal, influencing and negotiation abilities
