The Role
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Adult Social care Worker to join our Wellness Solution Service within a multidisciplinary Mental Health service on a fixed-term maternity cover basis.
Wellness Solutions provides short-term, preventative and practical interventions to adults experiencing mental health difficulties, supporting individuals to increase independence, maintain stability within the community and prevent escalation of need.
In this role, you will work directly with individuals to deliver time-limited, solution-focused support, helping people to overcome practical barriers that impact their wellbeing and recovery.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supporting individuals to maintain or access suitable housing, including applications, tenancy sustainment and liaison with housing providers
- Promoting independence in activities of daily living
- Supporting access to benefits, budgeting, debt management and financial stability
- Facilitating engagement with services and supporting safe transitions following hospital discharge
- Promoting community access and reducing social isolation
- Working collaboratively with Mental Health practitioners to deliver coordinated, outcome-focused interventions
This position is exempt under the provisions of the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions) Order 1975 and is subject to an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service check.
Valid driving licence and own transport, or be able to provide alternative, suitable method of travel is an essential condition for this role.
The position is based at the Coast Resource Centre, Worle and requires travel across North Somerset. Occasional travel outside of area may be required.
Work Style
At North Somerset Council, we offer a hybrid working environment based on four distinct work styles. Depending on the role and personal circumstances, you will fall into one of these categories. However, please note that during the induction period, it may be necessary to spend more time in the office to support your learning and development. We are flexible and open to discussions about your preferred working style, and if you wish to be in the office more frequently, this can be negotiated.

Mobile/Field Worker
This role is predominantly community-based, working directly with individuals in their own homes and local settings across North Somerset.
Regular attendance at the Coast Resource Centre is required for team meetings, supervision and collaborative work. Portable technology supports flexible working while out in the community.
About You
We are looking for an individual who is passionate about supporting adults experiencing mental health challenges and who is committed to preventative, strengths-based practice, and who possesses the following skills and experience:
Essential Criteria:
- Experience of working with adults in a social care, mental health or community setting
- Understanding of safeguarding, risk assessment and lone working procedures
- Ability to deliver practical, person-centred interventions that promote independence
- Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team
Desirable Criteria:
- Experience of delivering one-to-one support within community-based services
- Experience supporting individuals with practical interventions to promote independence
- Understanding of strengths-based and recovery-focused approaches
- Experience supporting individuals to overcome practical barriers in their daily lives.
