As part of the Civil Engineering Apprenticeship you will be supported to undertake and achieve a Level 3 nationally recognised qualification. The apprenticeship will be fully funded by the council, and you will be given time off for study as required for the duration of the apprenticeship which is typically three and a half years depending on any previous qualifications achieved.
Once you complete your apprenticeship there is the potential to move through the career progression levels within the team and continue your career with us.
You will also need to demonstrate an awareness for detail, familiar with Microsoft IT packages and be computer savvy with an ability to break problems down into simple parts and a willingness to learn from the wealth of experience the team has. Above all, you will show a passion for the work we are doing and the drive to achieve great results with a willingness to learn.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Complaints Performance Officer to work within the Council’s Customer Services Team to ensure that the Council is dealing with complaints in line with our policy.&nbsp;
Your role will be to carry out quality assurance, submit reports to cabinet and senior leadership team around performance as well as ensuring we are compliant with the Ombudsman’s Complaint Handling Code.
You will have experience of dealing with complaints and providing feedback to others to drive through improvements and will be committed to high standards of customer service.
The post holder will have the ability to work with minimal supervision and be capable of prioritising workloads.&nbsp; You will have direct contact with colleagues from every service area in the council so excellent interpersonal skills are essential for this role.
You will have excellent keyboard and communication skills and be committed to high standards of customer service.
This is a temporary post until 31st March 2027, working 20 hours per week, Monday to Friday with occasional requirement to work evenings.

Welfare Rights Officer x 1
Sefton Council’s Welfare Rights Service is recruiting a Welfare Rights advisor to work as part of the Welfare Rights Team. The role will include supporting vulnerable people to overcome benefit issues from advising about the appropriateness of claiming benefits through to presenting at appeal tribunals. The role will work collaboratively with colleagues in other departments and organisations to support clients with expert welfare benefit advice in often complex cases.&nbsp;
We are looking for someone with significant experience of Benefit Advice work, ideally including representing at appeal tribunals, and an excellent knowledge of the full range of benefits legislation and case law. We require you to have excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to independently manage and progress a case load.
You will need strong interpersonal skills and experience working with clients suffering from health problems in a professional but empathetic manner, and the ability to respond sensitively to clients. You will be providing advice via weekly face to face advice sessions, including telephone advice line duty, email and in person in both local authority and partner organisation venues.
You will be expected to work as part of the welfare rights team and to work independently meeting the needs of clients, and have the support of an experienced Team and Team Manager.
You may be required to work a flexible work pattern including evenings and weekends across the borough.

The London Assembly scrutinises the Mayor's activities by questioning the Mayor about their decisions. The Assembly also investigates issues of importance to London.
There are 25 Assembly Members, elected every four years at the same time as the Mayor. The Secretariat works for the Assembly to support its activities.
<h2>About the team and role</h2>
The Liberal Democrat Group scrutinises the work of the Mayor across the policy areas of transport, housing, environment, policing, health, the economy, planning and regeneration, fire and emergency planning, and the Mayor’s multi-billion pound budget. Applications are invited from candidates with extensive press and media experience in a busy office and of working for elected representatives or similar high profile public individuals.
Your role will involve working closely with the team’s Senior Researcher who leads on communications and the two Research and Support Officers, including setting and co-ordinating the day-to-day work of the team. You will need to liaise with external stakeholders to ensure that the work of the group is represented and promoted through a variety of media, both proactively and reactively promoting the work of the Assembly Members.&nbsp; An in-depth knowledge and understanding of a variety of media is vital.
You will work across the full range of policy areas and produce policy briefings and issues papers to be communicated internally and externally. This role works closely with the team and two elected politicians in a dynamic, friendly environment.&nbsp; The work is fast moving and varied.
<h2>What your day will look like</h2>
<ul>
<li>Producing media monitoring reports for Assembly Members;</li>
<li>Writing briefings for Assembly Members on upcoming Committee meetings, interviews and events;</li>
<li>Responding to media and press enquiries to promote the work of the group.</li>
</ul>
<h2>Skills, knowledge and experience</h2>
To be considered for the role you must meet the following essential criteria:
<ul>
<li>Experience of working with elected politicians and/or senior officers: Developing rapport and working effectively with a diverse range of people, sharing knowledge and skills to deliver shared goals;</li>
<li>Knowledge and understanding of media handling techniques, including strategies, including designing and delivering an effective communications plan for an elected politician;</li>
<li>Experience of responding to media / press enquiries, and using a variety of media to generate coverage;</li>
<li>Demonstrable research skills, to enable quick and effective grasp of information from a range of sources on a wide range of policy topics, and proven experience of policy briefing in a political/ public sector organisation.</li>
<li>Organisational awareness: Understanding and being sensitive to organisational dynamics, culture and politics across and beyond the GLA and shaping our approach accordingly.</li>

GLA staff are hybrid working up to 3 days a week in our offices and remotely depending on their role. As part of this, you will need to split your time between home working and coming into the office.
