An exciting opportunity has arisen to work as a Fleet Officer within Merton.
The role will be supporting the Street Cleansing Manager in upholding the highest standards of regulatory compliance and operational excellence across the street cleansing fleet.
About you:
As the Fleet Officer you will be responsible for supporting the council’s Transport Manager with the management of any Operator’s Licence and appropriate audit systems to document compliance.
Monitor and develop a working partnership with the Waste Collection Contractor to ensure timely maintenance of the Council’s fleet and ensuring drivers and service managers are adequately trained to meet statutory requirements for operating front line service vehicles.
We’re looking for someone with:

<li>An in-depth understanding of fleet management, maintenance and operator’s licence compliance</li>
<li>Knowledge and understanding of environmental regulations, emissions standards and fuel efficiency requirements, with the ability to interpret and apply these regulations</li>
<li>Knowledge of fleet regulations, laws and standards, including driver hours, vehicle roadworthiness, safety protocols, and environmental obligations</li>
<li>Knowledge of alternative fuel options in relation to various types of vehicles, and vehicle procurement, leasing and hire arrangements.</li>

About you

Demonstrable experience of s202 homeless reviews &amp; part VI allocation reviews is needed as well as knowledge and application of the Housing Act 1996 Part VI and Part VII as amended.
Experience and ability to analyse performance management information and make recommendations for improvements and the ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing are also key.

This is an excellent opportunity for an aspiring planning officer to start their Development Management career, or a current Development Management Officer who is looking for the next step and to deal with more complex planning applications.

About the Role

About the Role: You’ll be working alongside two other case managers and work closely with Children’s Services in Berkshire. You’ll track the progression of pre-proceedings and care proceedings, monitor compliance with key timescales, and identify issues that could cause delays. You will provide detailed case analysis, support social workers in preparing evidence, and contribute to identifying and addressing training needs. Do you have strong customer service experience within a fast-paced Contact Centre environment? are you comfortable and confident with managing a demanding and varied workload?
Most of our enquiries are from residents dealing with complex challenging and stressful situations including several enquiries about non-council services. A background in local government would be desirable but the ability to understand and communicate complex messages is essential.
