An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our Democratic Services team as a Democratic Services Assistant, providing a joint service to Adur District Council and Worthing Borough Council.
A varied and rewarding role, our Democratic Services team plays a vital part in administering the Council's governance processes. The team organises and supports all formal committee meetings of the Council, ensuring they function in accordance with statutory and constitutional requirements. We provide governance advice to officers and members, as well as managing the decision-making process more generally.&nbsp;
You will be responsible for undertaking a variety of administrative duties for our small, busy and friendly office. You will also offer support to the Mayor of Worthing and The Chair of Adur. This will include the organisation of diaries and some Civic Events.&nbsp;
Due to the nature of the post, you will need to be confident working on your own, be an excellent communicator and have confidence to be able to liaise with Senior Officers and Councillors.
Good organisation skills are essential and you will need to have proven administrative skills, an adaptable approach and an ability to use initiative. The detailed nature of work demands a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail and you should also have experience of word processing applications.&nbsp;
Occasional attendance at planned weekend and evening events during the year will be required.
The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate excellent organisational and administrative skills, with meticulous attention to detail and will have the ability to respect the confidential nature of the work. You will be able to work as part of a team but also have the ability to work on your own initiative.

We are currently seeking 1 x Senior Assessment &amp; Allocation Officer to be responsible for the accurate assessment and fair allocation of permanent social housing/temporary accommodation. 
The successful applicants will work with their team to ensure that assessments and allocations are made in line with Council’s Allocations Scheme. You will also be expected to respond to members’ enquiries and complaints within the corporate time frame. 
In order to succeed in this role you must be: a team player, have a positive and flexible approach in your work, be committed in providing a good quality customer focused service, and enjoy problem solving, with an eye for detail. You need possess up to date knowledge of housing legislation. 
Applicants with a courteous yet firm manner when dealing with customer enquiries often under difficult circumstances, coupled with an ability to communicate complex information in a clear and concise way, will be ideally suited to this role.

Voids Surveyor - Void and Lettings Team 
About the role: 
As a Void Surveyor the appointee will be expected to provide the full compliment of surveying services to the Council Housing – Homes department utilising the necessary skills, knowledge tools and techniques required to provide a comprehensive surveying service within a construction commercial and contracts environment. Your responsibilities will include building and sustaining relationships with multiple internal stakeholders and external agencies, creating a sustainable and streamlines commercial delivery practice, and managing housing and regeneration procurement projects from inception to completion. Additionally, you will ensure they are carried out in a timely manner, in line with the Council’s standing orders and audit requirements and in line with all relevant procurement legislation.
