The Operational Services Division of Epsom &amp; Ewell Borough Council is looking for dedicated individuals to drive and supervise refuse and recycling collection vehicles, ensuring a timely, high quality, safe, friendly and efficient service to our residents.
Epsom &amp; Ewell Borough Council collects almost 120,000 refuse and recycling containers each week.&nbsp; Over half of all collected waste is recycled. You will be the primary driver of a vehicle up to 26 tonnes in support of the Council’s refuse and recycling collections. You will be responsible for its activities and crew, ensuring their safety and that all tasks are completed efficiently and within set timelines. You will undertake daily vehicle checks, ensuring you comply with all procedures relating to its use and report any defects. You will also arrange the safe disposal of the vehicle’s contents to waste sites guaranteeing all site instructions are adhered to.&nbsp; You must also be aware of all COSHH regulations and keep up to date with new legislation by attending all training provided to you.&nbsp;&nbsp;
You must be able to work safely on your own, and methodically as part of a team as you will also be required to help the crew with emptying refuse and recycling bins. You will be flexible, as you will be required to work early mornings and bank holidays. You will be able to communicate effectively and politely with the public.&nbsp;
You must already possess a valid LGV licence category C and a valid Driver CPC qualification. You will be required to bring both your licence and Driver CPC photocards to the interview. Full, ongoing Driver CPC training is provided as part of the role.

About you:

A strong understanding of health and safety practices, including risk assessments and working at height, is essential. You’ll also have a good working knowledge of current electrical regulations as they apply to the theatre industry. 
In addition, you’ll be an effective team leader and communicator, capable of supervising staff, liaising with visiting companies, and ensuring smooth technical operations across multiple venues. You’ll be IT literate and able to use systems like MS Office, Artifax and Oracle. A full, clean driving licence is required, and you’ll need to be comfortable with working unsocial hours, including evenings, weekends and bank holidays.

<li>Respond to out-of-hours social care emergencies, including Child Protection, Child in Need, Children Looked After, and Children’s Mental Health cases, in accordance with the Children’s legal framework and relevant guidance.</li>
<li>Undertake complex Section 47 enquiries and assess risk in high-pressure situations.</li>
<li>Manage a range of complex cases involving safeguarding, mental health, behavioural issues, and multi-agency interventions.</li>
<li>Apply your knowledge across children’s and adult social care, as EDS is a generic emergency service (training will be provided).</li>
<li>Provide professional, high-quality written and verbal communication to ensure accurate case recording and handover.</li>
<li>Work collaboratively with health, housing, and emergency services to deliver safe, coordinated responses.</li>
