You will be required to use a ride on mowers, strimmer’s and hedge cutters and have a good understanding of grounds maintenance operations.

This is a brilliant opportunity for someone who enjoys hands-on work, problem-solving, and learning multiple trade skills. You’ll be based at our Sevenoaks offices, working with experienced colleagues who’ll support and mentor you every step of the way.
What you’ll be doing:

<li>Supporting a wide range of maintenance, repair and minor works activities across our buildings and housing stock</li>
<li>Assisting with statutory compliance checks to keep buildings safe and operational</li>
<li>Ordering and handling materials appropriately for each job</li>

<li>Participating in PAT testing and learning how to complete and log safety inspections</li>

This means the current two tier system, where services are split between Surrey County Council and district and borough councils like Tandridge, will be replaced with larger councils, which handle all local services. &nbsp;Although this may lead to some uncertainty for anyone considering a role with us, this process will take several years and during that time we still need to provide services. &nbsp;When local government is reorganised, most staff will transfer to the new council which may offer additional opportunities for career development and variety as part of a larger organisation. If so, St Giles is looking for a Volunteer Peer Advisor to work collaboratively with staff across St Giles Trust and externally to develop a flexible, holistic and personalised pathway towards employment for clients.
About St Giles Trust An ambitious, well-established charity that helps people facing adversity to find jobs, homes and the right support they need. &nbsp;Central to our ethos is our belief that people with first-hand experience of successfully overcoming issues such as an offending background, homelessness, addictions and gang involvement, hold the key to positive change in others.
About this key role As directed by the Caseworker or Team Leader, you will carry out promotional and engagement activities to recruit participants, as well as individual needs assessments with participants, obtaining information from referral agencies where possible.&nbsp; You will support participants in carrying out individual and group activities to implement their plans and make progress towards employment, plus act as a Peer Advisor to participants, providing ‘support from someone who has been there’.
We will also count on you to act as a positive role model for what participants can achieve, help develop their confidence and make referrals for specialist help, including what is available within the project, plus, as skills develop, take on a small caseload of participants.
