We are looking for a dynamic and reactive individual to join our Strategic Housing team as an Empty Homes Officer.
Across Knowsley there are almost 900 empty properties and the post holder will be responsible for pro-actively working with their owners to bring them back into use and support the council’s plan to develop stable communities and address the chronic shortage of available housing across the borough.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills will be required to build relationships with both internal and external stakeholders along with the ability to prioritise and maintain accurate records. Experience of working in an Empty Homes or Environmental Health service is essential as is knowledge of relevant legislation and best practice. A HHSRS certificate or experience of applying the HHSRS in assessing residential properties is also required.

We are looking to appoint an experienced Senior Approved Electrician with a strong background in Fire and Security. Experience or knowledge in fire would be advantageous. As a Situational Awareness Officer, you will serve as the key point of contact for the Greater London Authority (GLA) during your shift, providing vital early warnings, incident monitoring, and maintaining situational awareness on real-time events. You will be tasked with producing accurate, timely, and analytically sound reports in response to unfolding situations, ensuring that decision-makers have the information they need to act quickly and effectively. Additionally, you will work to maintain the flow of information between the GLA, government departments, and other key stakeholders, helping to ensure clarity and consistency in the response to incidents.
In this role, you will build and cultivate relationships with both internal and external stakeholders, ensuring that intelligence, briefings, and reports are delivered consistently and accurately. The Neighbourhood Service works in, and with, our local communities to tackle a wide range of often complex community issues, helping reduce fly tipping, environmental, residential, commercial &amp; highways issues, crime, and disorder, making people feel safer and the Borough cleaner. Working together with our partners and communities you will make a key contribution to making the London Borough of Redbridge a great place to live and work.
As a Neighbourhood Enforcement Officer, you will play a critical role representing the Council in providing a visible uniformed patrol presence with delegated police powers, working across Redbridge. You will be part of a team patrolling our communities, listening, and responding to residents concerns and resolving them by engagement and enforcement. You will investigate reported offences and complaints and take appropriate action in line with Council procedure and statutory duties. Where necessary you will use enforcement powers including the issue of Fixed Penalty Notices and Penalty Charge Notices or serve other legal notices. You will be responsible for gathering &amp; recording evidence in accordance with the Criminal Procedure and Investigations act 1996 (CPIA) conducting interviews under the conditions of the Police and Criminal Evidence Act 1984 (PACE) and preparing case file for prosecution.
You may have a legal background, community background or have experience of working in a local authority enforcement role. Whatever your background, you must have excellent communication skills, a customer focused approach, accuracy, consistency, attention to detail and be able to build collaborative working relationships with wider community partners. You&amp;©ll also have strong observational skills, be an effective problem-solver, and be able to work independently or as part of a team. Calm and collected, to deal politely and tactfully with a wide range of members of the public who may be confrontational and advice within specific guidelines, able to make decisions under pressure, be able to adapt in a fast-moving environment, you'll be IT-literate and able to multi-task.
