You’ll make sure they feel listened to and encourage practice that supports them to identify their assets and strengths – enabling them to fulfil aspirations, build resilience and improve outcomes.</p><b>About you</b><br><p>We seek you to have demonstrable experience in leading and managing an Assessment and Social Work team. This includes responsibility for recruitment and retention, induction, training and development, performance management, disciplinary and capability processes, and succession planning. A proven ability to build and sustain a strong, cohesive, and high-performing team is essential. </p><p>The role involves managing the allocation of workloads across the team, ensuring high-quality delivery, meeting performance targets, and driving continuous service improvement. Confidence in monitoring, analysing, and managing delegated budgets, funding, and resources in line with council policies and procedures—or influencing broader service budgets indirectly—is required. </p><p>Extensive knowledge of practice, theory, and legislation should be applied to enhance standards, shape procedures and policies, promote innovation, and embed new ways of working. This may include adopting insights from recognised sites of excellence and navigating complex or challenging circumstances, including those that require positive risk-taking. </p><p>A solid understanding of local communities and the wider political context is key. Effective leadership in partnership working—both internally and with external stakeholders—is vital, along with a commitment to involving people who access support in the ongoing development of the service.</p><p> </p><ul>\n<li>Level 5 leadership/management qualification or willingness to work towards it</li>\n<li>Educated to a degree level in health and social care or related field or equivalent experience</li>\n<li>Evidence of continuous professional development</li>\n</ul><p> </p><p><strong>Apply now!
