About the Strategy &amp; Policy team

About the role

Reporting directly to the Executive Director, you will be responsible for a team of 20 to deliver the Mayor’s Housing Strategy and respond to London’s housing crisis. The London Situational Awareness Team provides real-time situational awareness and acts as the first point of contact for the London Resilience Partnership in major incidents, ensuring coordinated communication and enabling a swift, proactive response to incidents and events across London.
<h2>About the role</h2>
As a Situational Awareness Officer, you will serve as the key point of contact for the Greater London Authority (GLA) during your shift, providing vital early warnings, incident monitoring, and maintaining situational awareness on real-time events. You will be tasked with producing accurate, timely, and analytically sound reports in response to unfolding situations, ensuring that decision-makers have the information they need to act quickly and effectively. Additionally, you will work to maintain the flow of information between the GLA, government departments, and other key stakeholders, helping to ensure clarity and consistency in the response to incidents.
In this role, you will build and cultivate relationships with both internal and external stakeholders, ensuring that intelligence, briefings, and reports are delivered consistently and accurately. This full-time permanent role offers the flexibility of working within our offices in Ilford (Usually 2 days a week) and working from home, allowing you that extra freedom and work life balance.&nbsp;
Key responsibilities will include:
<ul>
<li>To formulate and draft policy for statutory and non- statutory planning documents, developing planning policy, including preparing and drafting policy for the review of the Redbridge Local Plan</li>
<li>To make proposals for the analysis of data, including undertaking the design of data collection exercises, cross- referencing data from disparate sources, applying such analysis and outcomes to the review and development of planning policies and proposals.</li>
<li>To provide timely and relevant advice on planning policy and its interpretation, including preparing expert advice to Council Committees, Members, Public Inquiries, Examinations in Public, and public meetings as required.</li>
<li>To play a role in supporting Corporate Objectives for investment and new development in the borough including the regeneration of Ilford and improving quality of life.</li>
<li>To ensure that there is full and effective engagement of public and stakeholders in the planning policy processes.</li>
</ul>
An RTPI accredited postgraduate degree and experience is required.

About the Role
As a&nbsp;Service Desk Analyst, you’ll be the first point of contact for all digital, data, and technology support across the Council. From troubleshooting network and server issues to managing asset inventories and supporting end-user devices, you’ll play a vital role in keeping our digital services running smoothly.
You’ll also:

<li>Provide first-line support via phone, email, and face-to-face</li>
<li>Log and resolve incidents within agreed Service Level Agreements</li>
<li>Support infrastructure systems including servers, networks, and telecoms</li>
<li>Assist with device deployments and infrastructure security</li>
<li>Help drive our digital transformation and self-service initiatives</li>
</ul>
What We’re Looking For
We’re seeking someone who is:

<li>Customer-focused with excellent communication skills</li>
<li>Experienced in M365 administration and Active Directory</li>
<li>Skilled in troubleshooting IT and telephony infrastructure</li>
<li>Proactive, collaborative, and able to work independently</li>
<li>Flexible to support occasional evening/weekend work and on-call duties</li>
</ul>
Essential qualifications and experience include:

<li>GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Maths</li>
