Residents in Sheltered Housing have a range of physical and mental health needs which means that they need our support to maintain their independence. You will work to achieve this as per the Sheltered Housing purpose. You will be working as a Cat 1 Scheme Manager providing advice and support to residents living in Cat 1 Sheltered Housing schemes in either the Portsea or Somerstown area. You will be based in this area and will have an office directly linked to the location or close by. You will also work closely with other Scheme Managers and will be paired with a buddy to ensure continuity of service in your absence. You will be expected to provide cover for your buddy's residents when they are not at work. Part of your role will mean meeting and greeting new residents, introducing them to the Cat 1 Sheltered Housing Service and making them aware of the service they can expect to receive. You will also act on any actions arising from ongoing issues in your regular contact with them. You will act as an advocate for residents when working with other agencies and you will be acting as a link to social services and mental health services. You will be responsible for ensuring the completion and updating of needs, risk and support plans and ensuring that identified follow up actions are taken. This may include offering advice and signposting to the correct agencies to help with financial issues including payment of rent and bills, arranging for support with daily chores and shopping and helping residents arrange repairs, where relevant You will also respond to incidents &amp; problems relating to the residents, to accurately record information and incident reports and liaise with members of the residents' families. Where appropriate you will have the responsibility for raising Safeguarding alerts. In addition, as the scheme manager you will also encourage social activities in the scheme. You will be expected to be able to use Microsoft 365 as a key part of the role is accessing and updating online resident records on a regular basis. As a scheme manager you will have overall responsibility for the security and safety in relation to the welfare of residents. You will also be responsible for carrying out pull cord checks in resident's homes to ensure that all equipment is in working order. You will form part of the Sheltered Housing Team. However, as a Cat 1 Scheme Manager you will spend a lot of your time as a lone worker in the scheme you are based. You will need to be confident in making on the spot decisions and following these through. You will also need to be flexible as you may be required to cover other schemes at short notice in the event of an emergency. Skills: 1.	Experience of working directly (face to face) with people. 2.	Have an understanding of the impact of physical and mental health issues experienced by older persons. 3.	Be a good listener with a calm manner, with the ability to converse at ease with customers and provide advice in accurate spoken English. 4.	Have the confidence to advocate for residents when needed and to work proactively with other professionals to achieve positive outcomes for residents. 5.	Have an awareness of the importance of confidentiality when working with residents, in particular regards to GDPR requirements. 6.	Be a strong team player and willing to support those in your team when they are facing challenges. 7.	Have an understanding of the need for you to maintain appropriate professional boundaries with residents that you are supporting. 8.	Have an understanding of the role of Social Services, Health Services and voluntary agencies in the provision of services to people and be able to work with them with the purpose of achieving the best outcome for service users. 9.	Have good written skills as you will need to be able to write concise notes in residents files, respond to complaints and compile reports, for example in relation to Safeguarding matters. 10.	The ability to prioritise workloads and self-manage your time effectively to meet the different needs of each resident. 11.	Have basic IT skills, including the use of Microsoft Outlook and Word/Excel and be able to use in house databases as required. 12.	Hold a full UK Driving License and have access to a vehicle during working hours.

The Mental Health team would like to offer Approved Mental Health Professionals the opportunity to support the Isle of Wight AMHP Service through our casual bank list. We are looking for Approved Mental Health Professionals who are approved by a Local Authority, or willing to work to be approved by the Isle of Wight Council, to cover the function of executing Mental Health Act Assessments in a variety of settings.
This post is zero-hours and would suit AMHPs who work for another Authority but would like some experience working on an island, or for AMHPs that have not practiced for a while but would be willing to undertake the training to become approved by the Isle of Wight Council.
The ethos of the post is to cover AMHP shifts in case of vacancies or sickness as part of the 24-hour on-call rota, including evening and weekend hours and bank holidays.
We will provide you with an induction to the systems used and resources of the island before you will be expected to work on your own, in addition to support from the AMHP manager to discuss any areas of practice concerns.
Post incentives:

We are looking for our next apprentice! This is an exciting opportunity to gain a Chartered Town Planner Masters degree whilst working and gaining hands on experience in planning. The post is for three years and for the first two (starting in September 2025) you will attend Brighton University for one day a week to undertake the degree apprentice qualification. Following the successful completion of the two year course, you will then work for approximately one further year on a full time basis gaining experience towards the end point assessment which enables you to become a Chartered Town Planner (MRTPI).
In the work place you will have your own workload and undertake a range of planning tasks including assisting with the processing and validation of planning applications, writing reports on different types of applications, and assisting more senior team members in preparing their reports.
As you learn and develop your skills and knowledge you will be able to respond to enquiries from the public, carry out site visits and liaise with colleagues and external agencies. The role will adapt and&nbsp; develop across the three years so you will gain a good knowledge of the work of a planning department.
You will need a higher Second Class degree in an appropriate subject, or an equivalent qualification to be eligible for this apprenticeship and you cannot already have a masters degree. You will need to be accepted on to the course and be ready to start in September 2025.
The job is based at the Civic Centre in Littlehampton and this will be your contractual job location. However, it is likely there will be some working from home and so will need an appropriate space to work from.
Whilst not essential a driving licence/access to a car will help you get the most out of the job as it involves attending site visits, generally starting in the second year.
