Working closely with Ubico – our waste and environment service provider, this is a unique opportunity to drive sustainable change, optimise service delivery, and make a tangible impact on our communities.\nWhat you’ll be doing:\nStrategic Leadership & Transformation\n<ul>\n<li>Develop and implement a forward-thinking waste and environment strategy.</li>\n<li>Provide expert guidance on procurement, alternative delivery models, and innovative service improvements.</li>\n<li>Lead on cross-council projects, collaborating with partners to enhance efficiency and sustainability.</li>\n</ul>\nProject & Programme Delivery\n<ul>\n<li>Oversee a portfolio of waste and environmental transformation projects.</li>\n<li>Develop robust business cases, feasibility studies, and project documentation.</li>\n<li>Ensure projects meet quality standards, deliver measurable outcomes, and align with strategic goals.</li>\n</ul>\nOperational & Financial Management\n<ul>\n<li>Lead and manage a high-performing team, ensuring effective resource allocation.</li>\n<li>Monitor budgets, drive efficiencies, and implement cost-effective solutions.</li>\n<li>Foster a culture of continuous improvement, collaboration, and innovation.</li>\n</ul>\nStakeholder Engagement & Collaboration\n<ul>\n<li>Represent the council on waste-related boards and partnerships.</li>\n<li>Work closely with internal and external stakeholders to drive environmental initiatives.</li>\n<li>Champion sustainable practices and ensure service excellence for residents and businesses.</li>\n</ul>\nAbout You\nCotswold District council was ahead of its time in creating a shared waste and environment service delivery company (Ubico) with neighbouring Cheltenham Borough Council. Fast forward and all the councils in Gloucestershire are now part of Ubico. We are looking for a dynamic leader with extensive experience in waste management, environmental services, or a related field, alongside strong strategic and project management skills and a track record of delivering transformational change.\nYou will need a commercial mindset with experience in procurement, budget management, and resource optimisation.
