It is based within York Way Depot, in King’s Cross, London and sits within the Environment and Sustainability Directorate under Supporting Communities. The service is responsible for a wide range of transport related services including the provision of accessible buses for children and adults, taxi bookings, fleet maintenance, an MOT service, driver training, fuel provision and manages a range of concessionary travel schemes. What You’ll Be Doing / How You’ll Be Involved The Engineering Team is responsible for the management of the Council’s fleet of vehicles (circa 330), ensuring compliance is maintained through planned vehicle inspections and scheduled maintenance tasks. The team also incorporates the workshop and MOT Centre and is responsible for health and safety compliance within the wider depot, in consultation with Corporate Property and Health and Safety.&nbsp; The Engineering Manager is a key member of the service management team within CATS and plays a lead role in ensuring compliance for staff members, vehicles, the depot and equipment maintenance. This role also leads on decarbonisation of all vehicles as well as improving the service, ensuring that our service delivery and outputs are of the highest standards. BEST have an opportunity for a versatile, ambitious individual to lead and work within the commercial business section. &nbsp;In this role, you will:

<li>Visit potential and existing commercial waste customers to promote the service, increase sales and maintain after-sales contact to promote customer retention.</li>

<li>Undertake the day-to-day administrative functions, including responding to customer enquiries, complaints, taking action to ensure customer care needs are satisfied.</li>

You will have a proven successful track record in sales and previous experience in commercial waste would be an advantage. &nbsp;You must have excellent communication skills with a confident telephone and in person manner, and the ability to solve problems quickly and efficiently to ensure customer satisfaction. &nbsp;Experience using Excel and other Microsoft packages is essential. &nbsp;A current, valid full driving license is essential.

Accountabilities and outcomes: To undertake tenant document reviews to ensure all relevant information is current and reviewed twice yearly (medical/health information, medication, GP, emergency contact details and information held by central control). Undertake routine checks and effectiveness of the call system, telecare devices, and fire alarms – and any other systems that are identified as contributing to the health, safety, and wellbeing of tenants. To undertake Fire, Health and Safety Risk Assessments and ensure all control measure are in place and applied, as to enable fire drills and evacuation procedures in accordance with the relevant risk assessments and procedures. Proactively identify routine repairs and maintenance issues whilst carrying out daily checks at the schemes to promote a safe and healthy living conditions. To monitor the scheme cleaning, grounds maintenance and contractors carrying out their duties at the HFIL schemes. To ensure records are maintained to meet statutory requirements to support the efficient management and administration of the schemes and the welfare of residents and the provision of performance information.
