<li>Attend planning meetings and site visits, supporting discussions on transport matters and negotiating improvements.</li>
<li>Advocate for active travel and low-carbon transport modes in development proposals.</li>
<li>Check submissions against national guidance (e.g. National Planning Policy Framework, Local Transport Note 1/20), local policies and sustainability objectives.</li>

<li>A degree (or equivalent) in transport planning, civil engineering, geography, environmental studies or related discipline.</li>

The role will work closely with our off-the-streets accommodation services and severe weather emergency protocol (SWEP) provisions, ensuring timely and sustainable move through focused, multi-agency coordination and advocacy where needed. South Holland District Council is looking for a dedicated and proactive person to lead its newly formed Engagement Team, as it embarks on a radical change to it Waste &amp; Recycling Collection Service in October 2026.
As the Team Leader, you will be responsible for organising and coordinating the work of your team to ensure deadlines are met and progress is reported. You will also be at the forefront of engaging with residents, businesses, and stakeholders across South Holland to promote understanding, encourage participation, and ensure compliance with the council’s new waste collection services.
We are looking for a natural leader and an excellent communicator, with a background in Waste and Environmental services and an understanding of how local authorities operate. You should feel comfortable working within a team but also confident working independently when visiting residents who may be resistant to change.
