About the Role 
An exciting opportunity has arisen to join Enfield Council’s Waste Enforcement Team. This high-profile role is at the frontline of tackling environmental crime, helping to keep our borough clean, safe, and welcoming for everyone. 
You will play a key role in seeking long-term solutions to persistent problems and working with partners to deter repeat offending. 
Key Responsibilities 
As a Waste Enforcement Officer, you will: 
 
 - Lead investigations into waste and environmental offences, including fly-tipping, littering, storage and presentation of domestic and commercial waste. 
 - Gather evidence, prepare case files, and present evidence in court. 
 - Issue Fixed Penalty Notices (FPNs), statutory notices, and Community Protection Notices where appropriate. 
 - Conduct witness and suspect interviews in line with PACE. 
 - Deploy mobile CCTV cameras and seize vehicles involved in waste crime. 
 - Respond to service requests, councillor enquiries, FOIs in a professional and timely manner. 
 - Work in partnership with the Police, internal council teams, and external agencies. 
 - Engage with residents and businesses to encourage compliance and prevent environmental crime. 
 
Essential Skills and Experience 
We are looking for a proactive and motivated enforcement officer who can demonstrate: 
 
 - Experience in issuing FPNs, legal notices, and preparing documentation for court proceedings. 
 - Knowledge of the Environmental Protection Act 1990, Anti-social Behaviour, Crime and Policing Act 2014, Control of Pollution Act, and PACE. 
 - Strong IT skills, with confidence in using MS Office and case management systems. 
 - Excellent customer care skills, with the ability to deal sensitively and professionally with residents, businesses, councillors, and partner agencies, often in challenging situations. 
 - Strong interpersonal and problem-solving skills, with the ability to communicate clearly, resolve conflicts, and seek sustainable solutions. 
 - A pragmatic, professional approach to investigations and enforcement work with ability to work independently across the borough as part of day-to-day duties.

Good Growth is responsible for delivering and implementing the Mayor’s environment, transport and economic strategies and for the effective implementation of the London Plan. The Directorate is also responsible for regeneration (where the programme is not housing led), enterprise, growth, capital projects and design work.
About the team
The Environment and Energy unit is responsible for the policies and programmes related to the Mayor’s ambitions around the natural environment, climate adaptation and his net zero 2030 target. The 25-strong Climate Change team sits within this unit.
The Climate Change team leads three areas of the Mayor’s work: climate mitigation, adaptation and green finance. Climate mitigation leads on London’s net zero strategy, including our external work with partners like C40 and our internal initiatives such as climate literacy training.&nbsp;&nbsp;Adaptation includes the GLA’s work to lead London’s response to extreme heat and flood risk, as well as delivering the Mayor’s manifesto commitment around clean and healthy waterways. Green finance supports the delivery of the London Climate Finance Facility, including the £500m Green Finance Fund, and the recently announced climate finance taskforce.
About the role
This senior role will play a pivotal part in the Mayor’s ambitions towards net zero. The Head of Climate Change leads an expert team of around 25 people working across a range of disciplines. The postholder will need to support the team through periods of uncertainty and change, whilst leading a high-performing and inclusive culture.&nbsp;&nbsp;
The Head of Climate Change will need to demonstrate strong strategic leadership, policy development and programme delivery skills across a range areas. This includes overseeing delivery against the manifesto commitment to clean up London’s waterways, the Mayor’s ambitions to enable the scaling up of green finance for decarbonisation projects in London, and setting the strategy for the path to net zero by 2030.
The postholder will need to develop strong working relationships with the Deputy Mayor and the wider Mayor’s Office, supporting their decision-making and ensuring team resources are focused on priorities. In addition, effective partnership working with government, London Councils, functional bodies across the GLA Group, and a wide range of agencies, utility providers and third sector partners will be key to successful delivery.
The Head of Climate Change is the Programme Director for the Mayoral programme ‘Reducing Non-Residential Emissions’. This involves supporting the SRO to ensure good governance, delivery of key outputs, identification and mitigation of risks, and careful management of budgets to maximise delivery and ensure value for money.&nbsp;
On behalf of the GLA, the Head of Climate Change will play a critical leadership role for London’s climate sector in reducing our city’s carbon emissions and adapting to the impacts of climate change.
Skills, knowledge and experience

About the Role

Join Our Regulatory Services Team – Make a Meaningful Impact in Public Health!
We are looking for a suitably qualified and motivated individual to join our Regulatory Services team in a part-time capacity. This role focuses on both proactive and reactive complaint handling and enforcement work, ensuring compliance with statutory and service requirements.
You will also lead in shaping and delivering innovative enforcement strategies and projects related to food safety and health &amp; safety, from safety promotions and advisory services to commercialisation initiatives that extend our impact.
Initially, your food hygiene enforcement activities will be tailored in line with the Food Law Code of Practice while you work towards full registration with the Chartered Institute of Environmental Health (CIEH). We’re committed to supporting your development every step of the way, helping you to build the expertise and competencies needed to meet these requirements.
During the early stages, you will shadow experienced officers, gaining hands-on insight into interventions. As your confidence and qualifications grow, you will take ownership of routine enquiries and interventions at lower-risk premises, referring complex cases to senior colleagues.
This is a career-building opportunity.&nbsp; You’ll be supported to achieve full CEIH membership and registration with the Environmental Registration Board (EHRB) or Chartered Environmental Health Practitioner status.
About You

You must hold an accredited Environmental Health degree or a Higher Certificate in Food Control and be enrolled with CIEH on a pathway to qualify as an Environmental Health Practitioner or Food Safety Practitioner. You should be committed to achieving full CIEH registration within approximately one year of appointment.

Leading the Countryside Rangers you will work with the Countryside Officer to manage Elmbridge`s diverse and extensive countryside estate. The estate covers 625 hectares of land and you will help with all aspects of countryside management including heathland, woodlands and wetland.
A skilled conservation manager with enthusiasm for nature conservation. 
An enthusiastic individual is sought for an immediate start. Must demonstrate interest in nature conservation and possess a current driving licence.
You will be able to demonstrate that you can,

<li>Implement the annual review of the Countryside Strategy, instigate and assist in its review, including woodland management, nature conservation and public consultation.</li>
<li>Ensure staff are trained in all works expected to be undertaken including training on Health and Safety Regulations.</li>
<li>Undertake and monitor tree works in the absence of the Arboriculture and Countryside Officer. Have an overview of the Arboricultural Service to enable informed answers to customers enquiries.</li>
<li>Procurement of countryside management works- for example forestry contracts and an annual ditch maintenance contract</li>
<li>Liaison with local conservation groups and recording of ecological surveys on Council owned land.</li>
