We are looking for a proactive and enthusiastic Environment Health Practitioner, or a graduate EHO working towards their Chartered status, to join our HMO Enforcement team.&nbsp;
At Camden we strive to make use of all enforcement tools available to protect tenants and ensure accommodation is of a suitable standard. We are looking to continue to expand upon this good work as it is estimated that there may still be up to 5,000 unlicensed HMOs operating within the borough.
This is a unique opportunity to work within a small multi-disciplinary enforcement team consisting of Environmental Health Officers, Tenancy Relations Officers (TROs), Trading Standards Officers and dedicated legal support.
The role will require you to take personal responsibility for investigations into unlicensed and/or dangerous HMO properties, carry out reactive and proactive inspections of both licensed and unlicensed HMOs, serve enforcement notices, issue civil penalties and take prosecutions. You will also be required to consider other high level enforcement interventions including rent repayment orders and banning orders for the most serious cases.
The multi-disciplinary set up enables the team to ensure that tenants are provided with holistic housing advice and enforcement action can be taken for harassment and illegal evictions as well as Housing Act 2004 offences. The multi-disciplinary set-up provides an opportunity for you to work closely with colleagues in other areas and improve your knowledge and understanding of related housing legislation which may not be regularly enforced by EHOs.

Our Border Control Facility on the Sevington site, near junction 10A of the M20 provides the customs and transit checks required for hauliers following Brexit.The services at the Border Control Facility are being delivered through functional teams covering 24 hour and 7 day week pattern of operation and we are looking for an officer to manage assigned staff in the service.You will have extensive experience in food control as you will be responsible for acting as lead signatory for fishery products and composite goods along with:Conducting Official Controls including carrying out checks on imports of products of animal origin and high risk food not of animal origin. Undertaking checks of organic food, illegal unreported and unregulated fishing, animal composites and other relevant controlled goods. This will be principally in support of our Development Management Team, providing feedback on submissions in support of planning applications, including biodiversity net gain.Additionally, you may be asked to contribute to the specialist monitoring, research and statistical activities to support the Planning Service.<h2>Additional information</h2>You will bring with you experience in the technical specialism in ecology. &nbsp;With your in-depth knowledge of environmental legislation, best practice and statutory procedures, you’ll be able to offer comprehensive guidance and support to colleagues and customers to ensure best practice is followed.
