Who are we?
Mapesbury School is a new Special Educational Needs school opening in Spring 2025 in Cricklewood, Brent. Our small school will support children aged between 7 to 16 years with Autism and associated conditions who have not been able to access education in a mainstream or specialist setting and would benefit from an integrated therapeutic approach to education. Pupils will have an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) but may not yet have a diagnosis, though they display traits of Autism and associated conditions.
Mapesbury School is part of Kedleston Group. We specialise in providing specialist education and care for children aged 7-19 with a range of special educational needs and disabilities (SEND). These include autistic spectrum condition (ASC), attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) and social emotional and mental health needs (SEMH).

We are looking for dynamic and flexible fitness instructors who will be responsible for delivering a number of low impact exercise classes on behalf of the Active Herts programme. If successful, you will be required to travel to a number of venues in the Borough including Waltham Cross, Cheshunt, Wormley, Broxbourne and Hoddesdon, as well as having the flexibility to deliver classes during the morning, afternoon and evening. Previous experience of teaching exercise classes and working with adults who are at risk of cardiovascular diseases and mild to moderate mental health conditions is required.

All of the mainstream maintained schools and academies in the Borough currently commission EP support from the Service. This enables – alongside statutory and other Local Authority core work – EP contribution to SEN Support level assessment and consultation, organisational support and intervention, and community-based projects. Members of the team each link with a relatively small number of schools and other settings, with scope to provide a range of support within them. There remains a healthy balance of pre-statutory and preventative work, alongside a statutory role. We are always developing our practice, and recently have been strengthening our work as a Service in meeting the Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs of children and young people in Harrow. This has included ELSA delivery, and work around Emotional Based School Non Attendance. As a Service, we are actively contributing to aspects of the Local Authority’s SEND Strategy, including developing Ordinarily Available Provision guidance.We are a very positive, supportive and reflective team, which values individual strengths and interests as well as promoting team working and peer supervision. Assessment and Review Service, Children and Young Adults 0-25 Disabilities Service, Community Learning Disability Team, Children’s Sensory Team, Autistic Spectrum Teachers, Portage Home Visitors, Virtual School, Youth Justice Service, and Early Support Service in Children’s Centres. We are based in high tech and newly built Harrow Hub. This facilitates time spent working together, connecting, and learning with each other as a team, alongside a mobile and flexible working culture (for example through remote and hybrid meeting arrangements). We have outstanding IT for our business needs, including access to digital assessments. Schools in Harrow are high achieving. Harrow recently ranked 6th nationally (top 4%), among 151 local authorities, for the percentage of its pupils achieving the expected standard in reading, writing and mathematics at Key Stage 2. It is well established team and is subject to ongoing development as an integral part of the delivery to promote road safety, reducing accidents on Hertfordshire roads.<h4>About the role</h4>National Driver Offenders Retraining Scheme (NDORS) courses are governed by UKROED and delivered by Hertfordshire County Council (HCC) on behalf of Hertfordshire Police.
