An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Planning Policy team for the appointment of a Planning Policy Technician to join our friendly and busy section. You will be joining the Planning Policy team at an exciting time as we embark on the preparation of a new Local Plan. Having adopted two Local Plans in the last seven years you will benefit from working with, and learning from, an experienced and high performing team.
The successful applicant will obtain excellent experience of the plan making process and the opportunity to work within an organisation committed to delivering a plan that meets the identified needs in relation to housing and employment whilst preserving the character and beauty of the borough of Guilford. The post holder will provide technical and administrative support to the Planning Policy team and play a lead role in monitoring the effectiveness of Local Plan policies.
GSCE qualifications in English and Maths are essential. Excellent communication skills, an attention to detail, organisation skills, a commitment to customer care, computer literacy and the ability to stay calm under pressure are essential. An interest in planning and experience in using GIS would also be useful. This post could suit someone who is looking to start their planning career.
The Council is located at attractive riverside offices close to Guildford Town Centre, a short walk from the station.
