A Great Opportunity to help support the Brent procurement team
Brent is a tremendously vibrant London borough where the iconic arch of Wembley Stadium dominates the skyline. Spanning both inner and outer London, it is a borough of huge contrasts in terms of its economic, environmental, ethnic and social make up. Brent’s diversity is evident to all who visit our borough and our long history of ethnic and cultural diversity has created a place that is truly unique and valued by those who live and work here.
Do you want to support smarter spending – and bring structure to a fast-paced procurement team?
Brent Council is looking for a proactive and organised Procurement Compliance Support Officer to provide maternity cover in a key role at the heart of our Procurement function. This is a fixed-term opportunity where your eye for detail, strong follow-up skills, and ability to keep calm under pressure will make a real difference.
Procurement is how councils source the goods, services and works they need – everything from IT systems and construction contracts to social care and cleaning services.
In this busy and rewarding role, you will be:
- Managing compliance trackers, data logs and systems that underpin our procurement processes
- Supporting the CPA (Contract Purchase Agreement) process – setting up, chasing approvals, and ensuring policy alignment
- Keeping our contracts register and social value tracker up to date
- Responding to internal queries and helping identify and resolve issues quickly
- Following up promptly when procedures aren’t followed and ensuring everything is recorded thoroughly
- Assisting with tender notices, supplier communication, and general procurement admin
- Producing reports and helping embed good practice across the team
You’ll be part of a friendly, professional team that works at pace – supporting complex, high-value projects that deliver essential public services.
This is a role for someone who:
- Has a great eye for detail and thrives on getting things right
- Is highly organised, methodical, and able to juggle competing priorities
- Can act quickly and follow up without being prompted
- Communicates clearly and confidently with colleagues and stakeholders
- Is calm under pressure, resilient, and committed to doing things properly
- Understands the importance of compliance and data accuracy
- Has good IT skills – especially Excel – and can learn new systems quickly
You don’t need to be a procurement expert – we’ll support your learning. But you must be reliable, thorough, and comfortable managing your own workload in a structured but busy environment.
