Team Manager - 14+ Team

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated and enthusiastic individual to join the Local Authority’s 14+ Team as a Team Manager.

The successful candidate will be required to provide a high-quality service in relation to all aspects of the referral, decision making, assessment and care management process. This will include chairing complex meetings, supervision of staff, and ensuring performance and data information is properly collated and recorded on the WCCIS system and monitored in accordance with quarterly reporting requirements.

 

The 14+ Team will offer you the opportunity to work with young people aged 14 years and over who are in need of care and support, in need of protection, are looked after and/or are care leavers (until aged 25). The post offers the opportunity to develop your skills, knowledge and practice in relation to young people across all manner of statutory intervention including assessment, care planning, long term planning, pathway planning and transition to adulthood.

We welcome applications from experienced team managers and experienced senior practitioners who feel ready to take the next steps in their careers.

Principal responsibilities include providing guidance, support and leadership to qualified social workers, support workers and personal advisors tasked with assessment and care and support planning for vulnerable children and young people aged 14 and over. You will be required to provide formal and informal supervision to members of the team in partnership with the senior practitioners.

The 14+ team office offers indoor and outdoor space which promotes group work and independent living skills development for the children and families we support. We want to offer a safe space to young people to learn new skills and for all 14+ staff to be involved in providing unique and creative ways of engaging young people to promote their wellbeing and safety.

 

There are exciting opportunities available to the team which enables and encourages creativity in how we can meet the needs of our older children who are looked after and our care leavers through use of the St David’s Day grant. This has, in recent years, included the opportunity for staff to plan and facilitate activities for our young people inclusive of day and residential trips.

 

About You

We are looking for a dedicated and experienced individual with a passion for supporting children, young people and families. You should have a proven track record in managing teams and delivering services. Your leadership style should be inclusive and motivational, fostering a collaborative work environment. You will need excellent communication skills to build effective working relationships with internal teams, partner agencies, and service users.

 

A strong commitment to safeguarding, professional development, and continuous improvement is essential. You should be adept at interpreting information to understand local needs and drive service enhancements. If you are passionate about young people, promoting their voice and delivering a service which is focused on outcomes and strengths, then this will be a rewarding and exciting opportunity for you.
