Chelmsford City Council is looking for a logical and inquisitive person to join our team as a Mobile Business Rates Officer.
The role ensures that the Council’s list of business properties is kept up to date and that the correct occupiers are identified and billed appropriately. The successful applicant will also be required to advise business owners and council tax payers regarding payment of outstanding balances. The ideal applicant will have previous Business Rates experience but equally important is the ability to adapt to new technology and to assimilate information quickly and process it logically, accurately and non-judgementally.
There will be contact with customers, so a good, calm telephone manner and high standards of literacy and numeracy are also essential. Applicants will need to be self-motivated, proactive, capable of prioritising your workload and liaising well with colleagues both within and outside the Council.
You would be required to work 37 hours per week Monday to Friday. Chelmsford City Council operates a hybrid working policy and successful applicants will be able to work from home, subject to successful completion of training and to the job requirement to carry out visits in the local area on a regular basis. A full clean current driving licence is essential.
