WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR:
We’re looking for an enthusiastic and motivated individual to join our high-performing Revenues team. You will deal with the administration, collection and enforcement of Council Tax, Non-Domestic Rates and Business Improvement levy. The team operates in a thriving customer-facing environment in which you will amend accounts, interpret regulations and procedures and deal with enquiries via correspondence, email, telephone, and face to face, ensuring all taxes are collected promptly.
You will build on our good reputation, contribute to our evolving service-improvement, and always put our customers first. You will also be IT literate, have an organised approach, with excellent communication and numerical skills. However, support will be provided in these areas to develop your skills further. An awareness and understanding of Council Tax or Non-Domestic Rates is helpful but not essential.
You will be self-motivated, enthusiastic, customer focused and a team player. You will also acquire and maintain a thorough knowledge of all the relevant legislation in order to ensure that records are updated correctly, and advice is provided accurately.
APPRENTICESHIP OVERVIEW:
This is a Revenues Officer role, beginning with a 12–18-month Apprenticeship programme. At the end of this you will have learned to work flexibly across a multitude of tasks, contributing to and supporting the delivery of a high-quality Revenues service.
Winchester City Council’s apprenticeship scheme is a great way to gain valuable work experience while working towards a recognised qualification. Your time will be spent studying at IRRV and working within the Revenues Team where you will have the opportunity to put your new skills to the test and learn about this diverse area of our business. The council will fully support you in your learning and ‘off the job’ training.
You will study the IRRV Level 4 Revenues and Welfare Benefits Practitioner Apprenticeship Course. Further information on the apprenticeship available can be found below:
