We are looking for a Vehicle Technician to join our Fleet Transport team. You'll be required to complete a comprehensive range of technical, technological and mechanical multi-skilled work including diagnosing, inspecting, servicing and repair of vehicles, plant and specialist equipment in a safe, efficient and economical manner, following current legislation, Luton Council's maintenance policy and all relevant Health & Safety policies.
You will have the opportunity to work on a variety of different vehicles used across the Council. A tool allowance of £762.03 a year is eligible for this role and also unsociable hours payment (to be confirmed).

About you
The ideal candidate will have demonstrable experience of diagnosing, repairing and maintaining a range of heavy and light commercial vehicles and plant equipment. You'll need to be able to communicate effectively with others, including persuading and influencing customers and members of the public, ensuring you give clear instructions, advice, information and estimates of time and costs both verbally and in writing.
Some experience of supervision within a workshop repair, maintenance facility or similar is essential. You must have knowledge of the application and practice of Health & Safety legislation within a vehicle maintenance and repair environment.
A City and Guilds Full Technological Certificate, NVQ L3 or equivalent experience and training is essential, as well as a Category C driving license.
This is a public facing role so you'll need to show off your fluency in speaking and writing English
