About the Post:
An exciting opportunity has arisen for you to join the end-of-life care team as a social worker. This part-time role involves working alongside our current social worker, providing support and care in situations that can be emotionally intense and highly specialised.
In this role, you will be working in areas such as hospice and palliative care, bringing a compassionate and professional approach to your work. It is essential that you have a good understanding of the Care Act and other adult legislation, including the Mental Capacity Act. Additionally, familiarity with the ambitions for palliative and end-of-life care national framework will be highly beneficial.
We believe that your skills and experience would be a valuable addition to our team, and we are excited about the possibility of working together to provide the best care for our patients.
How do we sum up Barnsley Council? Well, we’re a double award-winning, high-performing council with a growing economy, a thriving town centre, and some truly impressive outcomes in our communities. This is why we’ve been awarded Council of the Year for 2023 by the Local Government Chronicle (LGC) and The Municipal Journal (MJ). Our excellent adult social care service has been a key part of our win; we’re so proud of what we’ve achieved not just for the council but for our partners and Barnsley. We’re impressed. Are you? It’s the perfect time to join our excellent team.
Your role in our journey
As a Social Worker in the end-of-life team, you will be a relatable practitioner responding to situations with strengths-based practice at the heart of your work. You will develop creative and imaginative solutions to help people achieve positive outcomes, which enable people to maintain their independence and live a happier, healthier life. With all the changes happening at Barnsley, there’s nowhere more exciting to improve your practice. Here, you’ll help individuals, families, carers, and communities to make the right decisions for a safer, more independent future. Along the way, you’ll make your own progress through training programs.
What you’ll need
To join us, you’ll need to have a recognised social work qualification and be registered with Social Work England. You’ll bring some relevant experience of working with adults who are at the end of life, receiving palliative care. We’ll expect you to be a skilled communicator and a flexible, creative practitioner, determined to make the most of this unique opportunity.
