Are you passionate about making a difference for residents in the Tendring District? Are you looking for a fresh challenge managing the business of a large and busy Directorate?

The Place and Wellbeing directorate is seeking a Business Manager to join us in a brand-new role. You will lead the corporate functions that enable the smooth running of our directorate to support the services and projects we deliver for residents. We have 137 staff (85 FTE) (and a further 330 casual workers) who run three leisure centres, the Princes Theatre, the Clacton Airshow, business support and grant schemes, and over £60m of new building schemes in Clacton and Harwich. The role is part of the Directorate management team and will also work closely with our service managers and colleagues in corporate services.

You will be responsible for ensuring the smooth delivery of corporate functions, including managing and monitoring governance and decision-making, data systems, performance monitoring, quality control, procurement, ICT development, budget monitoring, fee setting, business continuity, objective setting, and performance management.

Our ideal candidate will have significant business management experience, a degree-level qualification or equivalent by experience, a management qualification, and effective budget, financial, and people management skills.

In return, we offer flexible working arrangements to support a positive work-life balance, membership of the generous Local Government Pension Scheme, significant leave entitlement, and support for ongoing professional development and training. Additional benefits include free parking, discounted corporate gym membership, and various salary sacrifice initiatives.
