About the team
The Adult Care Services Income and Financial Assessments Team play a crucial role in ensuring that adults receiving social care services are assessed fairly and accurately for their ability to contribute financially toward their care needs. By conducting Financial assessments, maximising benefits, collecting information and monitoring income, providing guidance and support and liaising with other departments such as social care practitioners and applying relevant legislation such as the Care Act 2014.
About the role
The successful candidate will be supporting the team to assess an individual's financial situation to determine how much they should contribute toward the cost of care services, such as home care or residential care.
You will be required to provide excellent customer service by handling inbound and outbound calls via our call centre gathering relevant information from people who use our Adult Social Care services in Hertfordshire to assess what financial support and charges apply for them.
You will resolve charging queries in conjunction with the Care Act 2014 legislation, processing and allocating financial assessments and enquiries received by post and from people via our call centre.
About you
Essential:
We are seeking individuals to join our team who possess:
- Clear communication: Ability to explain complex financial matters in a simple, empathetic way.
- Customer service: Experience dealing with vulnerable individuals, often in sensitive situations.
- Numeracy: Ability to perform accurate financial calculations and interpret financial data.
- IT proficiency: Competence in using spreadsheets, databases, and financial assessment software.
- Teamwork: Collaborating with social workers, finance officers, and care providers.
- Attention to detail: Ensuring accuracy in assessments and records.
- Time management: Handling multiple cases and meeting deadlines.
- Record-keeping: Maintaining up-to-date and compliant documentation.
- Adaptability: Responding to changes in legislation or individual circumstances
Desirable:
•Financial literacy: Understanding of income, savings, pensions, and benefits
•Knowledge of legislation: Familiarity with the Care Act 2014, welfare benefits, and charging regulations.
