About the Post:
We currently have an exciting opportunity for a newly created Assistant Children’s Home Manager role at our Local Authority Residential Short Breaks overnight provision.
The role is 30 hours per week on a flexible rota, working four shifts per week which includes working a minimum of one weekend in three.
The working hours will primarily be Monday to Friday, and these will be a mixture of shifts; days, early / afternoon shifts.
We are seeking a flexible, creative, responsive and nurturing individual to support the Manager in the operation of the home. The role will be key in supporting our continuous improvement journey to ensure children, young people and their families are receiving an excellent short breaks service.
You will be required to evidence passion, dedication and commitment to caring for and supporting children and young people. You will have demonstrable knowledge of Ofsted regulations and the Quality Standards and have the skills to be able to support our staff team to meet the individual needs of our children and young people and ensure that we are meeting regulatory requirements on a day-to-day basis.
The voice of the child / young person is at the heart of practice within the home ensuring all children and young people, with varying communication methods, is embedded. Also, to advocate for our children and young people with other professionals as and when required.
You will role model expectations and behaviours within the home and act in a professional manner. You will have experience of completing staff supervisions and Personal Development Reviews. You will be able to challenge appropriately but also celebrate good practice.
You will have experience of working in a Children’s Home or Short Breaks provisions, with children and young people who have learning disabilities, complex health needs, behavioural and emotional difficulties. As part of the management team, you will formulate risk assessments, care plans and positive support plans.
You will understand the importance of building positive, working relationships with children, young people and their families, the staff team and professionals, be confident in report writing and have experience of improving practices for the benefit of our children and young people.
We are looking for an individual who can demonstrate excellent multi agency working, a strong knowledge around safeguarding and who has experience and understanding of reviews and meetings designed to keep the children and young people safe.
