In addition, students can opt to take Food Preparation and Nutrition (AQA specification). At A Level students can study AQA Product Design or Fashion and Textiles. In addition to the academic curriculum, the successful candidate will be expected to lead and contribute to the extra-curricular life of the department and wider school community. The department offers many opportunities for students to develop their interests in the subject and students can also apply for an Arkwright Scholarship, providing a window into the world of technology and engineering. The department has recently been developing a more holistic, one vision, one subject approach to learning Design and Technology at Key Stage 3 and 4 and the successful candidate should look to develop this further. The school was judged to be Outstanding in the last Ofsted report (December 2022).
