Team Manager - Care Experienced Team

Sefton Children’s Services and our wider partnership have huge ambitions for our care experienced young people. We are seeking a Team Manager who can lead a team of personal advisors in delivering relationship-based, trauma-informed support and guidance to enable care experienced young adults to dream big and fulfil their potential.  Your leadership will help ensure children and young people feel safe, heard and valued. It will also enable care experienced young people to progress into adulthood with hope and confidence whilst in receipt of bespoke plans which enable their hopes and aspirations for the future become reality.

About the Role

This role sits at the heart of Sefton’s transformation journey. You will manage and develop a team dedicated to walking alongside children, young people, and the people that matter to them through complex experiences. Together, you will create responsive, strength-based plans that empower individuals and build long-term resilience.

You will:

• Lead a team of personal advisors working with children in care and care-experienced young people
• Ensure children, young people, and their families are active participants in their own plans, with their voice and lived experience at the centre of decision-making
• Create a team culture of reflective practice, emotional safety, and learning
• Use insight from audits, feedback, and real-life stories to guide continuous service improvement
• Support effective partnership working to build coordinated care around children and young adults
• Your work will be closely connected to the Sefton Care Experienced Hub designed by young people themselves. The Hub is a safe, welcoming environment where care-experienced young people aged 16–25 can access advice, practical support and guidance and benefit from opportunities to strengthen support networks and positive relationships. As a leader, you will help maintain the close ties between frontline teams and The Hub’s relational, person-centred ethos.

Who We’re Looking For

We’re looking for someone who leads with empathy and integrity—someone who understands the importance of relationship-based practice and the impact of trauma on child development and family life. You will:

• Be a qualified social worker (registered with Social Work England)
• Have experience managing or supervising social care or support staff
• Share our commitment to anti-racist, anti-oppressive, and inclusive practice
• Promote partnership with children, families, and care-experienced individuals in all aspects of your work
• Be confident navigating risk and complexity with compassion and accountability
