An opportunity has arisen within our environmental health commercial team as an environmental health technical officer. The successful candidate will be required to carry out routine inspections and revisits to commercial premises, deal with complaints and give advice in respect of food safety, health & safety and imported food. You will also be required to prepare reports, consider, and carry out enforcement action, and ensure that records and electronic filing systems are fully maintained and updated.
Ideally, candidates will have successfully completed the Certificate of Higher Education in Food Premises inspection / Food Control in Environmental Health (or equivalent) or be working towards achieving EHRB registration. The ability to currently meet formal food and food premises inspection competency requirements is also essential.
Consideration will be given to candidates with similar qualifications and experiences in food safety and the food industry, with the willingness to study to achieve the desired qualification.
You will be enthusiastic and self-motivated, with the ability to manage your own caseload within tight timescales. Excellent communication, organisational skills and attention to detail are essential, together with the ability to contribute effectively to team working. The role will also require you to be the lead officer for one of the EH core disciplines (food safety, health and safety, infections disease control/ port health).
The role will involve remote working and travel around the district and occasionally beyond, a driver’s licence and access to own vehicle is essential. Candidates without a driving licence or access to their own vehicle will be placed on an initial temporary contact of nine months. To continue employment with UDC candidates, must ensure they obtain a full driver’s licence and have access to a vehicle for work purposes.
Whilst the role is hybrid and allows for home-based working, there is an expectation of office attendance for team meetings
