About the Role
As an NQSW in Tower Hamlets, you will be part of one of our diverse Children’s Services teams, known as Supporting Families , providing essential support to children, young people, their families, and carers. Our practice is child-centred, family-minded, and strengths-based.
You will be asked for your team preferences if your application is shortlisted, and we will endeavour to put you forward for one of your team choices if successful at interview.

We offer a competitive salary starting salary at Grade I-K- £44,430 this will go up to £46,437, once you pass your first year of ASYE and you will also be eligible for an annual travel card covering zones 2-3.
We are committed to developing excellent Social Work practitioners and if you choose to work with us you will benefit from:
- A dedicated practice leader to support you through the learning and assessment involved in your first year.
- A diverse workload and good quality reflective supervision
- In the second year of practice, you can opt in to continue having additional reflective supervision and are encouraged to do a consolidation module accredited by our partner universities.
- In the following three years the Learning Academy will work with you to consider the best way to support and develop your practice.
- A range of opportunities to undertake further study and complete further post-qualifying modules through our partner universities post ASYE
Tower Hamlets provides wide-ranging and excellent training and development opportunities, which include university accredited courses, e-learning, online classroom-based training and on the go opportunities. We also offer flexible learning opportunities through our subscription to Research in Practice and various learning opportunities through our membership with the NorthEast London Teaching Partnership.
Requirements
Please note that to apply for these posts you must meet the following criteria:
- Have the Right to Work in the UK (please note, unfortunately we are not currently able to offer sponsorship for ASYE positions).
- Be anticipating successful completion of your social work course and subsequent Social Work England registration by October 2025
- Have completed your social work qualification within the last 2 years
- Not have commenced or completed your ASYE elsewhere

Both the Assessment Centre and Interview activities are approximately 1 day each and will take place face to face in Tower Hamlets Town Hall in Whitechapel.
