Job Title: Librarian - Service Development & Projects
Starting Salary: £33,366 opportunity to progress to £36,124 pa (pro-rata for part-time) pay award pending
Hours: 37.0/part-time hours of 18.5 will be considered
Location: Welwyn Garden City/relocating to St Albans within the next 18 months

About the team
Would you like to make a difference to communities across Hertfordshire? This is an exciting opportunity to join the libraries team at Hertfordshire County Council and contribute to the delivery of the Inspiring Libraries: My Place strategy.
You will work closely with a variety of colleagues in the library service, including frontline library staff, alongside HCC colleagues and external stakeholders.
You will be based at Central Stocks Unit in Welwyn Garden City with a Work Anywhere role profile. You will be able to travel to any of our libraries or other locations for meetings, training, events, and other project work. Your working pattern is negotiable, but some evening and weekend working will be required in line with the needs of the service.
About the role
Central to the role is communication, promotion and delivery of innovative projects, working with partnered organisations and teams across the service, as well as HCC.
Key responsibilities in the role will include:
- Managing a portfolio of projects
- Agreeing aims and outcomes for projects, monitoring and reporting on their effectiveness
- Developing project plans and milestones to ensure projects are delivered to budget within required timescales
- Working collaboratively with colleagues and partners to deliver projects
- Leading and training staff in the roll out of new service developments and in delivering projects to achieve positive outcomes.
- Leading an area of stock buying and convening a buying team
- Supporting with property refurbishments, re-locations, and library stock layouts
- Developing communication plans and promotional campaigns
- Co-ordinating and supporting countywide events
