Sefton Council is looking for a dynamic and experienced Principal Educational Psychologist to lead our Educational Psychology Service (EPS).

Key Responsibilities:

Strategic Leadership: Provide strategic leadership and operational management for the EPS, ensuring high-quality psychological advice and support to schools and settings in Sefton.

Team Building: Recruit, develop, and retain high-calibre staff, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and professional development.

Collaboration: Work in partnership with schools, settings, health commissioners, and other agencies to promote effective intervention and inclusive practices.

Statutory Duties: Oversee the provision of statutory advice in line with the Special Educational Needs and Disability Code of Practice 0-25 years, including complex case work and attendance at SEN Tribunals.

Quality Assurance: Ensure the EPS complies with professional ethics and competencies, maintaining high standards of service delivery.

Safeguarding: Promote the welfare and safeguarding of children, young people, and vulnerable adults, ensuring effective risk management and protective measures.

 

About You:

Experience: Proven track record as a Senior Educational Psychologist, with experience in leading and supervising a team, partnership working, and contributing to multi-professional casework and projects.

Skills: Effective people management and leadership skills, excellent communication abilities, and a commitment to inclusive practices and continuous improvement.

Qualifications: Professional postgraduate qualifications in Educational Psychology and active registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).

Knowledge: In-depth understanding of legislative and statutory requirements related to SEND, safeguarding policies, and strategic planning frameworks.
