Chelmsford is looking for an enthusiastic individual with experience in housing standards to join our Housing Standards Team. The work will include dealing with housing complaints, licensing and inspection of Houses in Multiple Occupation, including the assessment of conditions and property management against minimum legal standards. The officer will also support the day to day enforcement work of the team and undertake a range of work to bring empty properties in the District back into use.
The successful candidate will have an excellent eye for detail, a logical problem-solving approach and be willing to learn and study to improve their expertise. You will be supported to develop a sound knowledge of housing legislation associated with the work by your colleagues and the Housing Standards Lead Officer.
It goes without saying that we always aim to provide the highest standards of customer service and the successful candidate will need to have the full range of communication and organisational skills to manage a diverse and demanding work.
A full driving licence is required for this post and the nature of the work means that you will need to undertake some activities outside normal office hours.
