The governors, staff and pupils of Redgate Community Primary School are looking for a committed, talented and enthusiastic Special Educational Needs Teaching Assistant to join our successful and friendly team within our complex needs base - The Pines.

We are seeking to appoint a SEND Teaching Assistant who will:
- Work collaboratively with class teachers and specialist staff to support the learning and development of pupils with complex needs, including global developmental delay, sensory processing difficulties, physical or medical conditions, visual/hearing impairments, Down syndrome and Neuro Divergent conditions.
- Implement individual support plans , EHCPs (Education, Health and Care Plans), and therapeutic strategies under the guidance of the SENCo and class teacher.
- Provide one-to-one and small group support, adapting learning resources and approaches to meet individual pupil needs.
- Use specialist communication tools and strategies, such as Makaton, communication boards or AAC, to support pupils with communication difficulties.
- Promote pupils’ social, emotional, and behavioral development using positive behavior support strategies and restorative practices.
- Assist with pupils’ personal care needs, including feeding, toileting, PEG feeding, and physical mobility, ensuring dignity and respect at all times.
- Support the creation and maintenance of a stimulating, play rich, and safe classroom environment that meets the sensory and emotional needs of pupils.
- Build positive relationships with pupils, families, and the wider school community, promoting engagement and trust.
- Record and report on pupil progress, behavior, and well-being in line with school policies and procedures.
- Engage in relevant training and continuous professional development, including safeguarding and specialist SEND approaches.

Due to the nature of work the above post is exempt from the provisions of the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and relevant care/safeguarding legislation and appointment will only be confirmed if a satisfactory Enhanced Disclosure is obtained from the Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS)
The contract is a permanent contract subject to a 6 month probationary period being successfully completed. INTERVIEWS will be held on Monday 16th June 2025
